2015

2015 almost a year since the last post!

KAVANAGH COLLEGE FOOTBALL

"He Ngakau Nui - With Pride"

I do not know where the time has gone but let me recap the season's highlights.

This picture sums it up..  well mostly.

We finished the season second in the Premier School Boys compeition losing in the final.
We beat this team 2-1 earlier in the season, the first time our College has beaten them in 8 years and what a goal the winning goal was from Jacob Cromb.

One of our players, Ben O'Farrell went on to earn selection to the New Zealand Under 17 squad preparing for the Fifa Under 17 World Cup in Chile this year.

Our Captain, Matthew Kelly, went on to become the captain of the Southern United Youth (under 20s) National League team, I know because I also was selected to coach (assistant to the very knowledgable Kevin Scouller) this team.

Another highlight was the raising of the game's profile at our college. In almost all of our games and at the final we had significantly more supporters than any other opposition and this is a testament to Matt's captaincy, the teams tenacity to perform, and the Kavanagh College community spirit.

This year willbe different in many respects, but no less exciting and I welcome it with anticipation. The team will be younger on average, though perhaps with more skill, shorter on average but perhaps with more depth.

Either way we will front up and give our best!
Kia kaha e hoa ma - Be storng my firends.
Richard
Coach
